Parzival:
1) Teutonic legend.
2) a music drama by Richard Wagner: composed 1877-82; premiere 1882
3) a male given name: from Old French words meaning “pierce” and “valley”
4) comparable to Percival a knight of King Arthur’s court who sought the Holy Grail
5) a German mythical military division
Those brave men of division Parzival, did they follow the waymarks to Laurin, found the impenetrable path, knocked upon the Rose, sang the magic words, and took the Elfin Queen’s milk-white hand as one by one they crossed an immortal divide? Are they real Grail knights in Arthur’s timeless service? In spirit, most likely but that doesn’t distinguish them from many other men and women past and present who struggle against the tide of mass conscious status quo or decline in seeking the pathway within to enlightenment. A Grail Knight is never in a situation where (s)he has limitless possibilities but no options to exercise them. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but, honestly, Rolf Naumann did earn a free pass to Laurin’s Rosegarden, he so passionately talked about.
